Thank You Cards: A Small Gesture That Means A Lot

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Your wedding. You thought the day would never come, that the rollercoaster of parties and planning would never end. But, now your wedding is over and you’ve come back from the honeymoon, it’s time to express your gratitude and appreciation for your guests’ and for their wonderful wedding gifts. You may think that the task seems daunting, especially if you’ve had a large wedding, but it is a necessary step. Plus, the experience of reflecting on the gifts – both material and spiritual – that your family and friends have given you is a wonderful way to bring your wedding adventure to an end.

Thank you cards don’t have to be novels, but each card should convey your sincere gratitude for their generous gifts and attendance at your wedding. Here are a few pieces of advice that can help make the process of writing and mailing thank you cards a lot less stressful:

1. Make sure that you have everyone’s correct mailing address. Some people may have moved since you sent your initial wedding invitations. An easy method to ensure that you have everyone’s correct mailing address is to set up a simple box to the side during the wedding dinner (with pens and individual sized papers). Ask your master of ceremonies to inform guests to write down their name and mailing address and place it in box if they have moved since you sent your wedding invitations. This gesture will be welcomed and appreciated by your guests as it shows that you genuinely appreciate their support of your wedding.

2. At your gift opening, appoint someone to be responsible for writing a log of who has given each gift. This is not something you should do yourself, nor is it something that you should count on yourself to remember.

Thank You Cards: One of a Kind Keepsakes

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Thank you cards give you a wonderful opportunity to share your favourite wedding or couple photos. Say thank you with a personalized image of the two of you at your wedding, or in a more casual setting. A card with your picture can be a beautiful keepsake for family, and an inexpensive wedding favour for friends and acquaintances.

Go big with a corner to corner couple’s collage, or keep it subtle with a small picture of the two of you. Either way – your smiling faces will add a personal touch to a classic wedding tradition.

Another way to personalize your thank you cards is to consider using different materials. Handwriting on one-of-a-kind postcards or crafting your own card from recycled paper are lovely, although time consuming, methods to show appreciation to your guests.

Bridal Debut – Two Locations, Tons of Gorgeous Gowns

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

If you’re looking for a wedding dress, don’t forget to stop by Bridal Debut. They’ve been helping brides find their perfect gown for 14 years. They have a great selection of gowns in a wide range of sizes. Plus, they’re not just in Sherwood Park anymore - Bridal Debut’s has opened a second store in South Edmonton.

The South Edmonton location provides the same friendly, no pressure service that Bridal Debut is known for in a smaller, boutique like atmosphere.

The new location caters to brides only (no bridesmaid gowns). They carry designers including Maggie Sottero, Allure, La Sposa, Jai and Alfred Sung. There is also a full time seamstress on staff. It offers a wide range of shoes, headpieces, veils and a large selection of jewellery.

When asked about the Southside location in comparison to the Sherwood Park location, Manager Amy Maier says that even though it is a smaller store, the selection is impressive with a focus on the bride who wants something a little different. “We try to bring in things that are different and trendy but at the same time upholding our standard of impeccable quality and great fit. We also have a wide range of classic styles and gowns to fit every bride’s budget.”

This location offers gowns in sample sizes from 6-28 with styles to suit every body type and a good selection of plus size gowns.

The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and are more than willing to assist brides who don’t know where to start, “We don’t expect brides to know what they want when they walk in the door, it’s our job to help them figure that out and we try to make the entire experience from start to finish as stress free and fun as possible, selecting a wedding gown for your big day should be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.” says Maier.

When shopping for a gown at Bridal Debut you are encouraged to take photos and bring people with you to share in the experience but Bridal Debut South recommends you try and limit your group to 2 or 3 as the store is smaller and can get a little crowded especially on Saturdays when the store is it’s busiest. If you have a large group just give them a heads up and they will make every effort to accommodate.

Brides who purchase a gown at either Bridal Debut location receive 10% off all accessories and bridesmaid dresses and the discount is valid at both stores.

Watch for Bridal Debut’s new website (coming soon) and the annual birthday blowout sale at the Sherwood Park location Sunday, July 11th.
