Creative Guest Books

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

If you’ve ever been to a wedding, you know that the conventional guest book idea is one that usually ends up containing very repetitive messages and entries from guests. For some people, being put on the spot like that can be quite nerve wracking and they often just use the same message of the last guest.

To inspire your guests to just speak from the heart, here are some simple but creative ideas for a guest book-type concept!

1. Fingerprint Tree - the idea of this is to draw or print a large image of a tree with bare branches and tree stems. You then ask your guest to put their fingerprint and create a fingerprint “leaf” beside their signed names. This is most definitely one of my favorite ideas of all time!

2. Wishing Tree - take large branches of cherry blossom, magnolia, or any other plant that you like and put the branches into a vase or pot. Make blank cards with ribbons attached to them, and request that guests write wedding wishes and messages to hang on the branches.

3. Typewriter - even though typewriters are not a new idea, we love the vintage look and feel of them and a wedding guest book written on a typewriter is a perfectly retro idea. Provide a little bit of direction for your guests (example: words of wisdom for the newlyweds) and get ready to read some interesting personal messages.

4. Chalkboard photo booth - What better way to share your wedding message with the newlyweds than a photo of you holding up a chalkboard with a message your wrote?

A Disney Fairy Tale Come True….

Friday, May 13th, 2011

Anyone who’s ever watched Disney movies, especially Cinderella or Snow White surely has dreamt of one day becoming a Princess Bride and living happily ever after with her Prince Charming…. I know that when I watched these films as a little girl, I wished for a pumpkin carriage, a beautiful magical gown and of course, my true love sweeping me off my feet. Despite the fact that Disney is essentially only a make believe cartoon, the ability to identify with characters, get drawn into the story and emotionally connect with the events is truly amazing!

The highly anticipated Royal Wedding of Duke William and Duchess Catherine last month was truly one of the closet real life fairy tale weddings we have ever experienced! In fact, we did a little research and found an adorable image of the Disney characters side by side, and the resemblance is almost uncanny!

Now, to find my own Prince Charming….
