Shawn and Renee ~ 11/22/2012

Shawn and Renée’s anniversary was on April 09, 2011, Shawn had planned to take Renée out and he had the evening all planned as a surprise. At 6pm Shawn pulled up in a limo and met Renée at the door with 11 red roses. While Renée laughed excitedly saying, “Oh my God Shawn, you didn’t have to get a limo to pick me up! I thought you were picking me up in your car, your car would have been just fine.” Shawn laughed under his breath nervously. Renée and Shawn got into the limo and started on their drive. Shawn poured wine for the two of them and took a swig. He then got down on one knee and presented Renée with a single rose with ribbon binding a ring to it. Renée was shocked and surprised, she grabbed Shawn and hugged him as a few tears of joy rolled down her cheeks. And of course she said “YES!!!” Shawn then fumbled with the ribbon to try and get it off and put the ring on Renée`s finger. The evening continued with a ride around Regina and a romantic dinner for two at Lakeshore Steak House, ending with a romantic sunset drive around Wascana Lake.

How teamwork organized a perfect engagement . . .

Ferne & Dave
September 17, 2011

It was June 6, 2010 . . . my fiancé’s birthday! We decided to go out for a nice family supper with his daughters and me. However, one of his daughters told me, “No you guys just go, I am going to stay to make Dad an Angel food cake for his birthday”. So we ended up going alone while the girls stayed home to “bake their father a cake”. We were told we had to stay out for two hours. After a while into our dinner, I was starting to get suspicious as his daughters kept calling my fiancé, lol.

After dinner as we were almost home he says to me, “We are supposed to honk when we are here!” So we pulled onto the driveway and honked. We got out of the car and as he let me through the gate, I saw an isle of tea light candles lined all the way down the drive on the other side of the gate. Wrapping around to the backyard we walked up to a beautifully decorated isle way of candles and flowers leading to a lace canopy with a table underneath full of candles, two wine glasses, and a bottle of wine! In the background, our favorite song was playing . . . I was truly in awe!

Dave sat me down on one of the chairs and poured me a glass of wine. I kept asking what the heck is going on, because I didn’t think he would propose on his own birthday. As we sat, he was fiddling with something under the table and I asked, “What are you doing??” . . . and his response, “Nothing! Is that the girls in the window?” (trying to get me to look the other way.) When I looked back he was down on one knee holding out the ring box. I literally BURST into tears as he asked, “Honey will you marry me?” I was crying so hard that I was speechless, so I shook my head YES. Finally, I was able to reply “Well aren’t you gonna put it on?” Haha, just then the girls popped into the canopy, right beside us, with a camera in hand, screaming “yes, yes, yes!!!” Afterwards, I found out that he had to keep calling because they were doing all of this while we were out to supper. They were trying to light all the candles right before we got home so that they wouldn’t blow out, lol. It was definitely an unforgettable proposal!!!

Here is an engagement story where a delectable dinner date turns into a precious night to remember . . .

My finace called me one afternoon and said “get ready, we’re going out for dinner tonight.’ I really wasn’t feeling very well that day (we had gone out the night before) so I protested a bit, but he would not give in. He said he made reservations somewhere that I’ve always wanted to go to and he couldn’t cancel them. For some reason, we were going out a bit more than usual. He was planning different nights out for us over the past month or so and I was really getting exhausted. Although it was sweet of him to keep taking me out I just wished for a night in, to relax, but he seemed pretty excited about this restaurant we were going to, so in the shower I went to get ready for yet another night out.

We got to the restaurant and it was a newer steak house in town that was supposed to be really good. We sat down, ordered drinks, appetizers, main course, dessert, then coffee, then cognac, it was never-ending! Although it was a very nice night out and the best steak by far I’ve EVER had I was getting ready to call it a night. My fiancé had gotten up a couple of times to go to the washroom and I began to wonder if I wasn’t the only one who was feeling a little shaky from the night before.

After the waiter had come around for the 5th time asking if there was anything else he could get us, (I think we’d had almost everything on the menu!) my fiancé began talking about how much we’d been going out lately and why he’s been planning all these special nights out for us and how much he loves spending time with me and that he wants to spend the rest of his life with me, and then “Will you marry me?” came out of his mouth and a little brown box appeared in his hands. I was so surprised to find the most beautiful ring I’d ever seen inside and at that moment it felt like time stood still. I remember looking at the fire place in the restaurant and it seemed as though it had stopped flickering and because we were pretty much the last people in there, there was no noise, no chatter, everything was just so quiet and serene.

It was the most amazing moment of my life and I think after a few seconds too long (poor guy) I finally said yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!! This was followed by a huge kiss, another long gaze at the sparkly ring in front of me, another huge kiss and then of coarse calls to my mom and his mom. I left that restaurant feeling like a different person, and at that moment I knew it was meant to be. This was total bliss, real love and by far the best night (and steak) of my life. What more could a girl ask for?!

Congratulations on your quickly approaching wedding day Stephanie & Constantine! Just remember to embrace and cherish every special moment of your special day! ;)
