Biography
After successfully establishing her wholesale business in Ukraine, Lena Kanter got married to her love, Steve, and they both moved to America 7 years ago. Now a Cleveland resident and designer, Lena has made it her goal to create unique and customized pieces of elegance, couture, and self-expression for each of her clients.

Currently designing for individual clients at her home studio, Lena loves to coordinate bridal and formal gowns with elegant and sophisticated accessories for brides that are seeking to create an image that is truly unique on her special day.

Lena’s most recent endeavor was that she started a new line called Nina Moro. Lena’s Nina Moro line offers luxury bridal and evening accessories such as shawls, bridal & evening handbags, jewelry, and simple elegant silk dresses. Lena also has an Etsy store for Nina Moro collections where her products are available for purchase to those all over the world from the UK, Ireland, Austria, Australia, and the US.

Using only quality materials such as authentic natural marabou, ostrich feathers, and 100% silk liners, her designer pieces are simply stunning. Along with the growing popularity with her Maribou Stoles, her clutches are also becoming a must have piece for many brides-to-be. Beautifully designed clutches such as the “Abigale,” which is decorated with chiffon roses, charmeuse leaves, and fresh water pearls will surely stand the test of time in bridal fashion. Brides will truly appreciate Lena’s attention to detail and her love for elegance and uniqueness.

Lemon Park Jewellery – Three Dimensional Journals

Friday, August 6th, 2010

Vancouver based jewellery design company Lemon Park takes a bold, modern and adventurous approach to their jewellery designs. Using beads and semi-precious stones that have been personally sourced and selected by the Lemon Park team, those who wear their jewellery can feel confident that they are wearing unique, hand-made pieces.

After years of working in places like Antarctica, Europe and Northern Canada, creator and designer Tania Gleave designed her first ‘Rocks’ necklace with stones that she had acquired during her travels. The story behind each necklace and its pieces is what makes Lemon Park’s jewellery so unique. Tania describes each of the pieces as items that speak of her “adventures working and traveling, collecting, trading and bartering in countries on every continent. The necklaces remind [her of the] stories and different people [she has] met along the way like three-dimensional journals.” With a BA in Asian Studies and Japanese, and a diploma in Textile Art and Design, all Tania needed was someone to help to kick start the business side of Lemon Park Design. This was an ideal situation as her sister Penny Gleave was looking for a change of career at that time and was searching for one that would satisfy her interest in business, fashion and design. Together, Tania and Penny Gleave created Lemon Park Design in the fall of 2006.

With the strong integrity of the materials used and the uniqueness of each of their handmade pieces, the success of Lemon Park has sky rocketed. Each of the elegant statement pieces are truly so versatile that they would be appropriate for almost any occasion, from a black tie party to even a simple dinner with friends. Both Tania and Penny agree that they “wear them everywhere.”

Brides are also popular clientele of Lemon Park jewellery as they often purchase necklaces for their wedding day along with earrings for their bridesmaids.

A German Wedding Custom Turned Fashion

Friday, May 28th, 2010

So what’s the next new and upcoming culture craze and fashion trend? Well, it originates from the saying: Scherben bringen Glück, meaning “shards bring good luck.” This trend has led to the popularization and transformation of a German custom called Polterbend into elegant must have pieces that any girl can cherish and appreciate (as proven by etsy.com).

Polterbend (derived from the German verb poltern [which means to make a racket] + noun abend [evening]) is a popular German wedding custom in which on the night before the wedding the bride and groom hold an informal party and their family, friends, and guests all bring pieces made of porcelain to the brides’ house or that of her parents. The porcelain items (as well stoneware, flowerpots, or ceramic pieces) brought by the guests are then given to the engaged couple to break during the evening’s festivities, for good luck. After all the excitement of the Polterbend’s events, the couple is then responsible for cleaning up the pile of shards together, as this represents how the couple will have to work together through all the difficult conditions and situations in life…

Your Best Embellishments - Bridal Jewellery

Friday, April 9th, 2010

The jewellery that you choose to wear on your wedding day is the single element that ties your whole look together. Are you looking for something glam and vintage, or delicate and feminine? Ostentatious, or subtle?

Traditionally, bridal jewellery is characterized by white crystal or pearls in a silver or gold setting. This look is timeless and lovely, but for those brides out there who are looking for something a little more unique, there are many options out there to suit any woman’s style.

Coloured stones have been especially popular over the last couple of years. Pastel and brightly coloured stones are ideal for a summer or beach wedding, while richer, deeper colours are preferable for a fall or winter wedding.

Whichever style you choose, the key to selecting your wedding jewellery is balance. If the bodice of your gown is heavily beaded or embellished, forgo a necklace to avoid crowding your neckline. Opt instead for a fun pair of earrings, which will provide all of the sparkle that you need without cluttering your look. If your dress is simpler in style, or if the focus of the embellishment is at the waist or on the skirt, feel free to pair it with a larger necklace…
