Setting the Atmosphere with a Mood Board

Friday, November 5th, 2010

Bridal Fantasy is always looking to share the most unique and creative ways to staying on top of wedding planning. Preston Bailey recently shared with his readers the usefulness of having a mood board. What’s a mood board you ask? Well . . . mood boards are collages made from photographs, sketches, clippings, fabric swatches and color samples that engaged couples wish to incorporate into their wedding day. Preston Bailey states that “mood boards are a great way to visually summarize what your client is looking for in her event.”

Using the above mood board, Preston Bailey put together a gorgeous elegant white wedding table arrangement (Photo Below). To recreate this beautiful table set-up, Bailey infused delicate metal elements with an overall white tablescape; he also used phalaenopsis orchids to bring the table to life with their transitioning green buds. Thanks Preston for your inspiring idea!

Thank You Cards: A Small Gesture That Means A Lot

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Your wedding. You thought the day would never come, that the rollercoaster of parties and planning would never end. But, now your wedding is over and you’ve come back from the honeymoon, it’s time to express your gratitude and appreciation for your guests’ and for their wonderful wedding gifts. You may think that the task seems daunting, especially if you’ve had a large wedding, but it is a necessary step. Plus, the experience of reflecting on the gifts – both material and spiritual – that your family and friends have given you is a wonderful way to bring your wedding adventure to an end.

Thank you cards don’t have to be novels, but each card should convey your sincere gratitude for their generous gifts and attendance at your wedding. Here are a few pieces of advice that can help make the process of writing and mailing thank you cards a lot less stressful:

1. Make sure that you have everyone’s correct mailing address. Some people may have moved since you sent your initial wedding invitations. An easy method to ensure that you have everyone’s correct mailing address is to set up a simple box to the side during the wedding dinner (with pens and individual sized papers). Ask your master of ceremonies to inform guests to write down their name and mailing address and place it in box if they have moved since you sent your wedding invitations. This gesture will be welcomed and appreciated by your guests as it shows that you genuinely appreciate their support of your wedding.

2. At your gift opening, appoint someone to be responsible for writing a log of who has given each gift. This is not something you should do yourself, nor is it something that you should count on yourself to remember.

CCKmode’s purse organizer will surely keep everything in your purse organized and in place - Ready for you to grab when you need it. You can check out their product here.

As a bride to be, you understand and appreciate the importance of organization when it comes to planning your wedding. And as most women know, half the things that we obtain end up in our purses, so before you start on your wedding planning adventure, make sure to have the organizational tools you need to help you along the way:

1.    Having an organized purse ensures that you can quickly file the receipts you’ve collected into organized files and folders, without having to dump out everything. Consider getting a purse organizer like CCKmode’s to prevent a messy purse breakdown as the big day approaches.

2.    Organization should extend beyond your purse, of course. You should set up an organizational system where receipts, contracts, article ideas, papers, etc. are all clearly separated to provide easy access if the document is required or if there are any discrepancies with your vendors.

3.    Your organizational system should be clearly separated by the major proceedings of wedding:
-    Engagement party
-    Stag and stagette
-    Ceremony
-    Reception
-    Honeymoon
-    Miscellaneous

Doing this will help you keep track of your spending and prevent you from going over your budget…
