Kim Kardashian’s Heavenly Wedding

“It was like we were in heaven,” “I felt like a princess” and “I am always going to remember how perfect it was” All quotes from Kim Kardashian and her new husband Kris Humphries about their fairytale wedding August 20 in Montecito, California. Pictures of the event are scarce but we managed to find sketches of the THREE, yes three wedding gowns by longtime Kardashian friend and designer Vera Wang. It is rumored that Kim herself didn’t even know until two days before the actual event which dress she would wear down the aisle.

After consulting with Family & Friends Kim chose this princess look gown, a ball gown with full tulle skirt, Basque waist and hand-pieced Chantilly lace applique on the bodice and train. Along with her Lorraine Schwartz headpiece, she wore a cathedral length veil with hand-pieced Chantilly lace applique at the hem and a lightly shirred blusher layer.

For the first dance, Kardashian went with something completely different. This Georgette mermaid dress with hand-pieced Chantilly lace applique on bodice. The skirt had hand-cut organza petals intermixed with Chantilly lace motifs and organza sprig embroidery.

And lastly, when it was time to party the night away Kim made her third and final change of the evening into a bias-cut crepe-back satin gown with v-neck and circle skirt. She accessorized all three looks with custom Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Now, if that didn’t knock your socks off may be the Cake will wow you. A 10-tier cake with chocolate chip frosting from Los Angeles bakery Hansen’s Cakes rumored to cost over $20,000.00.

Okay so you are not in the same social circles as the Kardashian’s and your parents can’t afford 10 million dollars to make you feel like a princess. You can still have your fairytale wedding all it takes is a lot of planning, some creative assistance and your dream. First a budget! Be realistic, you may want to float down an aisle of pure white rose petals but you may have to settle for a couple boxes of silk petals which will give the same effect and cost hundreds less. What about the dress? Well even Kim tried on her mother’s gown.

While your mothers dress may not be an option, there are plenty when it comes to price. From consignments to budget friendly rentals and everything in-between you can with some effort be a fairy princess for that special day too. The same goes for flowers, invitations, and all the little details that make your special day so perfect all it takes is a little work. So even if you are not related to the Kardashian’s you can have your fairytale wedding, and feel like a princess too.

Fall Wedding Inspiration

Monday, August 15th, 2011

With summer sadly coming to a close, fall wedding trends are making the change of season a little less bittersweet. An astonishing 32% of weddings take place in the fall and we can understand why – the colours and cuisine are so warm and inviting.

The hottest trends include: rustic and gold accents, dim lighting, and harvest-inspired wedding favours and cakes are all a must for this season! We love the idea of using wheat grass as a centerpiece or bouquet!

Wedding Dresses

Think lace! floral flowers and tulle detailing! Our favourite trends for this fall are Trumpet Dresses (also known as the “mermaid” dress), sweetheart necklines, textured skirts, short dresses (which might not be the best option for Canada’s chilly fall weather), lace dresses, and ball gowns. Here are some of the dresses from various Fall 2011 Fall lines that caught our eye:

Colours

The traditional colours of fall such as orange, red, yellow and brown are the first to come to mind when discussing Fall wedding themes however, don’t be afraid to mix in other colours too. This season peach, forest green, burgundy, and lilac are all on trend and luckily enough they are flattering colours on many skin types. J. Crew’s 2011 Fall Bridesmaid line offers wonderful bridesmaid dresses in these colours.

Celebrity Wedding Watch: Jessica Simpson Engaged

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Jessica Simpson is engaged!

Eric Johnson, Jessica Simpson’s boyfriend of five months, proposed to Simpson on Nov. 11 The ring is a three-stone, Neil Lane ring with two diamonds and a ruby.

Eric is an NFL player, and by all accounts seems to be the best thing to happen to Jessica in quite a while. Although the couple hasn’t been together all that long, Eric scores gentleman points for visiting Jessica’s father to get his approval before asking Jessica to marry him. Bridal Fantasy hopes that this time around, Jessica makes a relationship touchdown.

“The best thing about Eric is that he’s just really thoughtful and he keeps me very centered…and always makes me feel like my feet are on the ground and is probably the most special part of my life,” she said during an interview on CBS’ The Early Show.

When asked about her reaction to Eric when he popped the question, Jessica explains: “I said yes and we both definitely were teary-eyed. I didn’t even try the ring on until like, five minutes in…I was so shocked, [I] just kind of sat there and cried with him.”

We can’t wait to see Jessica’s dress. Her last gown, a custom, strapless, beaded design by Vera Wang, was gorgeous, and was paired with a Harry Winston tiara that made her look like an absolute princess. It’s hard to believe that was nearly a decade ago, in 2002. It will be interesting to see what she decides to do this time around - being a little older, wiser, and having a better idea of her personal tastes.

Vera Wang Dress Giveaway on Oprah

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

Since 1986, Oprah has hosted and developed the world’s highest rated and most influential talk-show. She’s had an incredible, 25 year career.

This season will be Oprah’s last, and it might just be the best season ever. It’s packed with high-profile celebrities, highly engaging topics, and unbelievable gifts and giveaways. . . Those lucky enough to be in her studio audience are going to walk away with some outstanding prizes.

Recently, Oprah’s special guest was every bride’s most beloved person (besides their fiancé) . . . Vera Wang!

The show featured 11 gowns from her White by Vera Wang Bridal Collection . The collection included dresses inspired by Degas, body flattering cuts, combinations of both modern and traditional styles, and a dress inspired by the one Vera designed for Chelsey Clinton.

The excitement of the audience could hardly be contained as fifty brides-to-be in the audience were told that they could choose any one of the dresses that were featured at the show. And it didn’t stop there, along with a dress from Vera’s affordable bridal collection, Oprah announced that they were also going home with a $250 gift card to Kohl’s (which carries the Simply Vera, Vera Wang Collection), a $4,000 Marriott Hotels and Resorts gift card, AND two United Airlines travel vouchers.

What a gift package! It was truly a dream come true for Oprah’s audience members. We at Bridal Fantasy can’t wait to see what else Oprah is going to bring to the plate this season.

Here’s a clip of Vera on her White by Vera Wang collection.

Chelsea Clinton - An All American, Fairytale Wedding

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

On July 31, 2010, America had its own version of a royal wedding. Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky tied the knot. Chelsea looked simply breath-taking as her father, Bill, walked her down the aisle. The wedding took place at the Astor Court Estate in Rhinebeck, NY. Clinton wore a custom silk organza Vera Wang wedding gown.

When asked how she felt about Chelsea choosing her as her gown designer, Wang commented: “It was an honour and a privilege to dress Chelsea on her wedding day. I have watched her grow into a beautiful, grounded and caring young woman. She radiated joy, youth and happiness. I wish Chelsea and Marc a long, happy and healthy life together.”

While many of us are familiar with Chelsea Clinton, not everyone knows who Marc Mezvinsky is. Mezvinsky comes from a political background as well. He is the son of former Iowa congressman Edward Mezvinsky and former NBC reporter and congresswoman Marjorie Margolies Mezvinsky. Marc is an investment banker with Goldman Sachs.

The couple met as teens, and attended Stanford together.

Despite the security required for the 500 guests, dignitaries and celebrities present at the wedding, the ceremony was incredibly romantic and intimate.

Details have been kept under wraps, but some information is out. During the interfaith ceremony the couple quoted from The Life That I Have by Leo Marks. Marc wore a traditional Jewish prayer shawl and cap with a Burberry suit. A Jewish Marriage certificate was beautifully displayed (called a Katuba). Both Chelsea and Mark exchanged their tender vows of everlasting love and commitment to each other.

Chelsea’s and Mark’s $3 million wedding was nothing short of a fairy-tale wedding.
